Formed by a group of friends in 2011 in Hong Kong, with little more than an idea to "transform Chinese manufacturers into Global giants in the mould of TP-Link", Oxygen initially found its feet by focusing on assisting medium-sized electronic manufacturers with branding and copywriting in Shenzhen.
By 2013, the writing was very much on the wall for the transition from OEM to OBM manufacturing. To facilitate this transition, it became apparent that Chinese manufacturers needed more than an online facelift and an organised Alibaba account.
In the same year, Oxygen became HubSpot's first China partners, bucking the trend of companies using Western software solutions in China to provide the platform for marketing solutions that those manufacturers required.
Fast-forward to 2019 Oxygen now executes complex automation, CRM integration, inbound marketing and sales solutions for Global MNCs such as China Telecom Global and Uponor. Thanks to our efforts, we are HubSpot’s APAC Regional Winners! We won Q1&Q2 HubSpot 2019 Impact Awards (Grow Better: Sales Enablement Award & Website Design), Q2 HubSpot 2019 Impact Awards (Grow Better: Marketing).

Faced with daily challenges of simply getting things "to work" in China, our development team have become specialised in the intricacies of the HubSpot API and how best to integrate it with different Chinese software systems (which often use outdated code bases and lack basic support systems).
We were the first HubSpot Platinum partner based in Asia, driven largely by own research and development, we are pioneering efforts to integrate HubSpot with WeChat, Chinese SMS services, CRMs and advertising platforms.

Gareth Jones has been Oxygen’s CEO since 2017, presiding over the company’s transformation from a small branding agency to Greater China’s foremost award-winning, marketing automation agency. Over the years, he’s helped bootstrap Oxygen from US$10,000 revenue in 2013 to a business with US$1M annual revenue and year-on-year annual growth in profitability.
Working between Oxygen’s Hong Kong and China offices, he currently oversees company operations and business development, maintaining close relations with key stakeholders and clients. He inspires a culture of high performance, integrity and continuous learning across the Oxygen team.
Prior to joining the company, Gareth founded a software development company at the age of 21 and worked with clients across the USA, UK, and China. During this time, he was also an Associate Lecturer in Business, Computer Science and Robotics for the University of Wales Group, delivering courses on their behalf at universities in China.
Through these experiences, he developed extensive knowledge of business analysis, operations, training, and strategy, and a boots-on-the-ground understanding of the Chinese market and business culture.
Gareth holds an MSc in Computer Science & Informatics, and a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Reading. He speaks and reads Mandarin at HSK Level 5, and enjoys going on weekend hikes and staying at home reading with his wife and fluffy Maine Coons.
Laurent Ross has been Oxygen’s CTO since 2018, driving business performance through innovative marketing and sales integration strategies, and winning the company two HubSpot Impact Awards in 2019.
Since becoming CTO, he’s introduced technical changes in both Oxygen’s internal operations and client services: from the creation of automated, real-time digital reporting systems and sales chatbots for clients to the automation of sales, HR and financial reporting processes within Oxygen. In addition, he was responsible for establishing internal IT security policies to help safeguard company and clients’ data and navigating through the complicated regulations of GDPR.
Before joining Oxygen, Laurent worked in roles that demanded skills in sales, marketing, design and business development across the APAC region. By the age of 23, he co-founded a luxury travel agency for the Chinese market in Phuket, Thailand which he managed for 4 years before moving into the International export industry. Laurent succeeded in rebranding domestic Thai products and moving them into the International market, even winning International awards (ThaiFex) for product development and design.
Through working in multiple management roles with smaller companies he learnt to intimately understand the needs of various cogs in the sales and marketing machine, how they interact with one another, and the formula required to achieve success. Armed with this and his international life experience, he’s able to successfully interface with clients of many different backgrounds and requirements to architect custom solutions no matter how complex the challenge.
Laurent is HubSpot and Adobe-certified and is able to speak, read and write Mandarin and Thai. He is a video game and animal enthusiast who enjoys the surf, sand, and sea on his frequent travels, but also appreciates some quiet time watching Netflix.
Amanda Lopes joined Oxygen in 2019 to serve as a strategic link between clients and internal teams–developing marketing strategies, crafting buyer personas, establishing key performance metrics, maintaining customer relationships, and guiding Oxygen’s team to deliver with excellence.
With more than 9 years’ experience in various marketing, PR and communications roles in Australia, Amanda has worked with companies big and small across food & beverage, health & wellness, hair care, SaaS, construction, and tobacco. In these roles, she’s managed SEO, SEM, PPC, Social Media, CRM programs and platforms, events and much more. This diverse background allowed her to develop expertise in both B2B and B2C acquisition and retention.
Always seeking new challenges, Amanda enjoys solving complex problems and is a passionate learner who holds a BBus in Marketing and Advertising from the Queensland University of Technology, a DipMA from the Southbank Institute of Technology, and a Diploma of Events Management & Public Relations from the Australian Institute of Management. She’s deeply excited about the team’s potential for growth, frequently recommending reading materials and encouraging colleagues to attend business/marketing events, courses, workshops, and webinars.
A new arrival in Hong Kong, Amanda spends her weekends venturing around the city and learning about its culture. On average, she reads 1-2 books a month and absolutely loves petting dogs.
Julie Zheng has been Oxygen’s China Marketing Manager since 2016. She’s responsible for the company’s operations in the Shenzhen office–leading client-facing marketing efforts, crafting marketing strategies, managing the team’s execution, and leading business development in the Mainland Chinese market.
A Mainland Chinese native with international exposure, Julie has worked as a Human Resources Analyst at UBS Wealth Management in Singapore and spent two years completing her Master’s degree in the United Kingdom. In addition, she’s written marketing copy for websites and products within the international education start-up platform, myOffer. These experiences have equipped her to thrive in Oxygen’s hybrid English-Chinese environment.
Passionate about the team’s personal development, Julie also supports HR initiatives at the company and spearheads the development of quarterly goals for individuals on the team, checking in on their progress and guiding them in an effective goal-setting.
Julie holds an MA in Dramatic Writing from the University of the Arts London, and a BA in Economics from the Southwestern University of Finance and Economics. A creative soul, she places a notebook by her pillow to write ideas in the morning and practices freestyle sketching and painting in her spare time.
Daniel Wong has been developing websites for Oxygen since 2013 and is one of the longest-standing employees in the team. He owns the best practices for code quality, develops websites and HubSpot integration solutions for most of the company’s projects, and directly communicates with clients to explain technical concepts and solutions.
Born in the concrete jungle of Hong Kong and raised in the Queen’s backyard of Windsor in the UK, Dan spent two years as an English teacher in Japan after graduating from the University of Nottingham and previously worked with Oxygen’s CEO, Gareth Jones, as a Software Developer at Accelerated International, Inc.
Dan holds a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Nottingham and has acquired both a HubSpot Design Certification and HubSpot Inbound Certification. When he’s not working, you can find him wandering around, seeing the world through the lens of his camera.
Sumnd Liu has been in charge of Oxygen’s HR, finance and other business administration tasks since 2018. She’s responsible for liaising with colleagues across the Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and Cape Town offices to organise the company’s financial records, manage company-wide HR procedures, recruit new employees and plan team-building events and activities.
Having spent time in various cities in China and the United States, Sumnd has accumulated more than 4 years of international experience in marketing, sales and administrative roles throughout her career. Trilingual (English, Mandarin, and Cantonese) and naturally empathetic, she easily adapts to new cultures and environments and is an ambitiously fast learner.
Using her strong organisational skills, she’s successfully assisted in recruiting over 10 new employees and interns in under a year and spearheaded the implementation of the company’s quarterly team events.
Sumnd holds a BA in International Business from Washington State University. In her spare time, you can find her working out at the gym, cooking Thai food or designing sportswear with her friends.
Pawel Mikolajek has been providing design work and art direction for Oxygen since 2015. He collaborates with copywriters and marketing managers to find the right combination of copy and design for various assets and marketing materials and develops design strategies to ensure visual consistency and optimal UX for internal and external projects.
A self-taught graphic designer with interest in computers, Pawel is skilled with the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and Sketch App and fluent in both macOS and Windows environments. Throughout his career, he’s worked on a variety of design and branding projects for B2C and B2B clients across North America, Asia, and Western and Central Europe, and previously worked in marketing at a 4-star hotel in Poland.
Pairing his design skills with his educational background in communications, Pawel works closely with clients, freelance designers, and other team members to conceive designs that are persuasive in selling, effective in delivering its message and satisfy the needs of their target audiences.
Pawel holds a BA in Journalism and Public Relations from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań and regularly spends time reading books and watching Lynda tutorials to expand his skillset. When he’s not designing, you can find exploring his local area or watching meme compilations and speedruns of his favourite video game, Half-Life.
John-Patrick joined Oxygen in 2016 to optimise sales enablement initiatives and deliver sales onboarding training for clients looking to improve the effectiveness of their sales force. He works with clients, content managers, and marketing strategists to deliver consistent sales conversations at every stage of the lifecycle.
With a rich history in strategic sales and sales enablement around the world, Patrick has increased turnover from US$34,000 to US$500,000 for a company he ran in West Africa and the UK and worked in social skills development and training for staff in Liberia. To date, he has provided special skills training to over 100 individuals and has worked with a variety of B2B-aligned businesses.
Highly extroverted with experience and interest in a multitude of fields, Patrick is an active listener who can hold conversations about nearly every topic and enjoys using his knowledge to find solutions to set up a sale and build rapport with others. Though based in South Africa, he never feels far away – regularly visiting the Hong Kong Head Office and maintaining close relations with the rest of the team.
Patrick holds a BA in Applied Psychology from the University of South Africa and is certified in HubSpot Sales Software and Sales Enablement. In his free time, he enjoys skydiving and reading well-researched historical fiction and autobiographies.
Tiffany Yiu joined Oxygen in 2018 to serve as a liaison between our teams in Shenzhen, Cape Town and Hong Kong, ensuring that project timelines are executed according to agreed KPIs and maintaining client satisfaction through the Net Promoter Score (NPS) system. She’s responsible for understanding clients’ expectations, monitoring the team’s progress and capacity, and communicating performance to clients on a regular basis.
Before joining Oxygen, Tiffany spent 3 years in Marketing, PR and Communications roles across companies within fashion and luxury, including Ralph Lauren Asia Pacific. In that time, she’s also had experience managing VIP clients in Hong Kong and Mainland China, and coordinating international social media activities, generating marketing strategies and implementing them for RapNet. Throughout her career, she’s assisted over 800 clients with enquiries, complaints, renewals, and sales.
Flexible with a flair for empathising with client needs and understanding team members’ roles and concerns, she spends most of her time communicating with various stakeholders and enjoys providing transparency and finding solutions to guarantee success. Since joining Oxygen, she helped the company maintain an average of 8 on the NPS as of Q1 2019, with a few clients giving the team full points.
Tiffany holds a BBA in Marketing from the University of Hong Kong and holds 3 HubSpot certifications. She regularly attends yoga sessions at her favourite gym after work and loves posting about her travel and fitness adventures on Instagram.
Brian Yeung has been managing projects and company resources at Oxygen since late 2018. He is responsible for monitoring project timelines; delegating tasks across full-time, part-time and freelance work units; identifying process bottlenecks; providing relevant strategic management insights; and facilitating meetings to ensure project teams are aware of their responsibilities.
Originally from the United Kingdom, Brian brings with him over 4 years’ experience managing and planning complex engineering projects within companies like Tesla Motors, Ricardo and SST Technology – solving problems, managing relationships with various stakeholders and improving efficiency using techniques such as Scrum, Ishikawa, 5S, Kaizen, Brainstorm, Root Cause Analysis, SAP and 8D.
Interested in gaining international experience and applying his project management skills within a new environment, Brian moved to Hong Kong to become part of the Oxygen team and is adept at motivating others with his team-oriented attitude and positive visions of the future. Since joining, he’s implemented the use of Redbooth for streamlined task management and assisted in the production of internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Brian holds a BEng in Mechanical Engineering from Coventry University and an APM Project Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ). When he’s not enjoying the great outdoors, playing basketball or hitting the gym, you can find him munching on key lime pie, ice cream or various bakery items.
Kristeen Romero joined Oxygen in 2019 to provide content support across the organisation and its various projects. She is responsible for conducting strategic research, crafting high-performing content and campaigns, providing a content marketing perspective to managers and strategists, and reviewing the work of less experienced team members.
A content jack-of-all-trades, Kristeen has been creating content across various mediums and social media platforms since 2009 and holds over 3 years’ experience conducting marketing research, crafting and executing marketing strategies, and producing performance reports. She’s previously created social media content for The Ritz-Carlton, managed the Facebook pages of Silverlit Toys and Ching-He Huang, and moderated an online community with over 50,000 members.
Ever-curious and always aiming for increased accuracy and efficiency in her work, Kristeen regularly consumes content on marketing, productivity, human behaviour and countless other topics to find new ways for improving her skills and gaining a better understanding of the world. She also enjoys sharing knowledge with the team, putting it into practice, and seeing others learn something new.
Kristeen holds a BA (Hons) in Language & Communication from Centennial College (An Independent College Established by University of Hong Kong) and a Professional Diploma in Digital Marketing from the Digital Marketing Institute. In her spare time, if she’s not working on her YouTube channel, you’ll find her playing Final Fantasy XIV or watching video essays on storytelling and world-building.
Jane Jiang joined Oxygen in 2018 and has been spearheading Chinese advertising campaigns for clients looking to reach audiences in Mainland China. She’s responsible for crafting and optimising advertising strategies, managing advertising budgets and creating advertising content across Chinese platforms like Baidu, WeChat, JRTT, Sougou, 360, etc.
With prior experience as Consultant at Baidu’s Shenzhen offices, Jane has successfully helped over 1,400 companies open online advertising accounts and complete advertising campaigns on the platform in just over a year.
Jane holds a BA in Business Administration from the Changsha University of Science & Technology (CUST) and is a Baidu Certified Marketing Consultant. When she’s not keeping up to date with advertising trends, you’ll find her out and about taking photos with her film camera.
